Here's Why You Need To Be Excited About Kannada's Costliest Film Ever, KGF

The biggest film ever made in the history of Kannada cinema. Ever since the trailer got released, the whole country started looking towards Sandalwood. A 2 minute 49 Second trailer is what it took for the director Prashant Neel and his team to create this huge buzz. Frankly speaking, Kannada cinema or its market was never this huge. There had been spectacular films from the Kannada industry but the scale was never this big. And now when we are seeing the visuals in the trailer, we feel that every penny that is kept into making this film is worth it. When did this all start? It was in 2014 when the director Prashanth Neel came up with the idea of this magnum opus. After his debut 'Ugramm' which was one of the biggest blockbusters of that year, Prashanth Neel approached Yash and the producer Vijay Kiragandur with the script. It took almost 2 and half years for the film to complete the shoot of its first chapter(The film is divided into 2 chapters). The shoot got wrapped up on 15th August 2018. He definitely needs a special mention because when a director who is just a film old approached him with a script which needed approximately 80 crores, it was a courageous decision that has been taken by him. Yes, Yash is a big star now in Kannada industry but this project was bankrolled before the film 'Mr & Mrs. Ramachari' which brought Yash this star status. Considering the market in Sandalwood, 80 crores is a huge budget and it is once again proven that it is the producer's guts that takes films and the whole industry to another level (If there wouldn't have been ARKA Media Works, maybe we wouldn't have got our magnum opus Baahubali)

Director - Prashanth Neel This man's journey is seriously interesting. He wrote a screenplay first and wanted to cast his brother-in-law Sri Murali as the protagonist. When Sri Murali said NO, he compelled him to act and that is when finally Ugramm came. With that film, Sri Murali bagged many projects and is now busy doing films with big stars like Shiva Raj Kumar. Even though KGF is bigger than Ugramm, Prashanth stuck to his team of Ravi Basrur (Music Director), Bhuvan Gowda (cinematographer) and other technicians. At the peak time of his career, he dedicated 2 years to KGF movie and now he is in the right path to represent Kannada industry across the country. These lines by him in SIIMA awards 2016 came true and he is winning the hearts of all the audience. He even said once that 'At one point of my career, I decided that cannot do it further and wanted to leave Bengaluru but something stopped me back then and I became a hero' and now he is the protagonist of the biggest Kannada film ever made. So, A dream of 4 years is hitting the theatres this December 21st. I have lived in Bengaluru for 4 years but never watched a Kannada movie in theatres. For the first time, I am waiting for a Kannada movie as much as I am waiting for a Telugu star hero's film. Hope this film changes the scale of Kannada cinema like how Baahubali did to our Telugu cinema.
