With the first ever sea pool in India and a drive-in theater, Vizag is shaping up to be the hub for all water & adventure sports based activities. Bheemili Beach, Rushikonda, Araku, Mangamaripeta, Thotlakonda and Sagarnagar are poised to turn into water and adventure sports destinations, according to the information posted by the AP tourism department on the core dashboard of the state government.
Crescent Adventures is planning to introduce water-skiing, including banana boats, jeep parasailing, and para-motoring at Bheemili Beach. The firm is also looking at introducing all-terrain vehicles, zip liners, Burma bridge and parasailing at Rushikonda. While the activities at Bheemili Beach are expected to take off soon, the adventure sports at Rushikonda are in the process of being grounded.
Freakouts Adventure Solutions Private Limited is introducing hiking, trekking, rock climbing, rappelling and zorbing in Araku. They have already launched trial operations. India Xtreme Water and Adventure Sports is planning jet skies and towbals, water-skiing and speed boats at Rushikonda along with rappelling in Araku.
Visakha Boating has sought permission for wind surfing, jet-skiing, scuba diving, kayaking, snorkeling, paddling, sail boats and houseboats at Mangamaripeta. The company is expected to start speed boats and pedal boats in collaboration with Livein Adventure and are close to grounding as per the information provided by the tourism department. In addition, Akshara Enterprises has placed orders for two hovercraft with a US firm and is close to commencing operations in the city.
The first trials of kayaking were held on Sunday morning at Mangamaripeta. A team of six expert trainers took batches of tourists for half-an-hour rides in the backwater on four kayaks and a Gemini boat as part of the trial runs.
