Uber's Food Delivery App 'UberEATS' Has Now Arrived In Hyderabad's Corporate Corridor!
International cab aggregator Uber has officially launched its on-demand food delivery app UberEATS in Hyderabad. Actress Rakul Preet Singh has launched the app on Wednesday. UberEATS, which was launched in India earlier this year with Mumbai as its first city, is also available for users in Bengaluru, New Delhi, Chandigarh, Chennai and Gurgaon. The food-based app is looking to take on well-funded competitors like Swiggy and Zomato.
The service in Hyderabad seems to be working in select areas at the moment. As of now, it's up for restaurants and users in and around the 'corporate corridor' - Madhapur, Kondapur, Gachibowli and Kukatpally. The choice of localities have shown that weekends (Friday-Sunday) have the highest number of food delivery orders and Wednesdays witness a mid-week spike.
The company said it will soon be adding more places. The app says that North Indian food is the most popular among its people, while Chinese food comes second. It will be interesting to see what will interest Hyderabadis who have a special connection with Biryani and other South Indian dishes as well.
With a delivery fee of just Re.1 on all orders, the app says you can enjoy your local favourites at no minimum order value. UberEats has partnered with quite a few restaurants to start with. Few of them include Pista House, Udipi's, Cream Stone, Rayalaseema Ruchulu, Vera Pizzeria. The density of restaurants that UberEats covers is approximately 10 restaurants per sq. km . Currently, PayTm and card payments are the only payment methods with no cash on delivery option for putting up any order.
Even though the service is coming in a little late, UberEats is expected to give a tough competition to its rivals Swiggy, Zomato and other food delivery apps. Note that UberEats is a separate app available on iOS and Play Store. However, Uber riders or UberEATS users can use the same account for the two apps. Unlike Uber rides, consumers can place orders on the website too.
