Meet the prime minster’s newly appointed Director of Swacch Bharat Abhiyaan. ChaiBisket congratulates the I.A.S officer and this is her story of she rose up from humble beginnings.
MANA OORI AMMAYI Though she was posted in the Civil services from UP cadre, she was born in the rural areas of Andhra Pradesh in the year 1979. Though her dialects root back to banjara/Lambadi, she converses well in Hindi and Telugu too. Her permanent residence is at SR Nagar.
STUDIED in HYDERABAD As she had interest in the field of Arts, she had come to Hyderbad to join Koti women's college. Bachelor of Arts lo first division lo pass ayyaru kaani her family got her married when she was in second year. Inclination towards learning made her continue her education after marriage and she joined Osmani University to do M.A in Economics.
THE HARD TIMES Miss Chandrakala had tough time’s in balancing motherhood and her groups exams. She received immense support from her family during her preparation. It seems when her daughter was a baby, her husband Mr. A Ramulu used to take care of the child, which helped her study better. Her husband works as an executive engineer at SriramSagar project.
BREAKTHROUGH Being aware of the problems that people face, she has always striven to serve them through UPSC. Her hard work paid off and she ranked 409 and selected for Indian Administrative Service of UP cadre in the year 2008.
TRANSFER TRAUMA She was posted as a CDO Allahabad and later transferred as District Magistrate of Hamirpur, UP in 2012. After this her post was shuffled to Mathura in 2014 where she was the second women District Magistrate. Even this term was as short as 129 days and she was later transferred as the DM of Bulandshahar, Bijnor and Meerut.
TRACK RECORD They say in the history of Bulandshahar, there has been no other honest offices except this iron lady. She has been the face of efforts behind making Bijnor an open defecation free district. She’s well known for taking tough stands against corruption and evil activities. It was in 2014 where she became overnight famous on social media when she publicly pulled up road contract officials for ignoring their duties. DIRECTOR OF SWACCH BHARAT ABHIYAAN The I.A.S officer Miss. Chandrakala has joined the Prime Ministers vision of a clean India by 2019. With her tremendously green effective activities during her service and leading the ‘Clean India campaigns’ at UP, she was rewarded finally with the designation as the director of the Swach Bharat mission by prime minister Modi.
