Telangana Ranks No. 1 And Beats Gujarat To Become India's Largest Producer Of Solar Energy!

Telangana is proving to have the best governance by standing atop in various aspects. Now it sets new record by becoming the country’s largest producer of solar energy. In this process it beats its role model state Gujarat. Till this year Gujarat was ranked number one in producing renewable energy.

According to the statistics that were released earlier this month, a whooping amount of 2,792 MW of solar power is produced in Telangana, followed by Rajasthan (2,219) and Andhra Pradesh (2,153). Gujarat which topped till last year fell back to sixth place with 1,384 MW. Telangana authorities hope that an extra amount of 500 MW of solar energy would be produced in the coming six months. The total aim was to produce 3,000 MW of solar energy by next year.

This is all a result of Telangana’s solar power policy which initiates the decentralized model. Though initially the plan was to set up a solar park in Mahabubnagar, later it was decided to decentralize them since concentrating all solar power units at one place would result transmission losses. Telangana is aiming to make solar power the top source of energy in the state. Various irrigation schemes and industries in the state are also being transformed to support solar energy.
