Shamsun, a resident of Bollavaram village in Guntur Dist has gifted her daughter-in-law an unexpected gift - A Toilet!
When Shamsun was young she never had a toilet facility in her home, not even at her in-laws. She suffered a lot. The nature call in monsoons was a nightmare for her. Once her relative from Dubai refused to visit her home which made Shamsun seethe with humiliation.
Drawing Inspiration from the Swach Bharat Abhiyan, she built a toilet for her son's wedding, so that her daughter-in-law will not have to suffer like her.She pooled together a government incentive with Rs 4000 of her own money to fiance this construction.
The main objectives of the Swach Bharath Abhiyan was to eradicate open defecation. If everyone takes inspiration from Shamsun, achieving a truly clean Swach Bharat is a dream that can soon turn into reality.
