Read Sekhar Kammula's Review Of Chaitanya Pingali's Sahitya Akademi Winning Book!

Chaitanya Pingali is a new age Telugu writer. It is a matter of great pride for all Telugu speaking people that she has won the Sahitya Akademi's "Yuva Puraskar" Award for the year 2016. She received this award for her book titled "Chittagong Viplava Vanithalu" which is a tale of women members of the IRA (Indian Republic Army) in a pre-independence Chittagong. She has always been highly vocal about women's issues and has been actively opposing the sexist portrayal of women in cinema.

It was the year 2013, the book was fresh on the shelves then. Shekhar Kammula was one of the very few people who recognized the value of this piece and literature. He showered praises in plenty on this book and suggested lovers of literature grab their own copy. Well Spotted sir!

"Just read a book…."Chittagong Viplava Vanithalu". Nothing moved me as this one in the recent past...about incredible women...fearless..selfless, driven by love for the country in times when there was absolutely no hope for them...no hope..no equality ..no support from the society, family, men...when the whole system was against them, they fought..they fought for us...proves what women can do and have done for the country......All of them were members of Indian Republic Army (IRA) lead by Surya Sen. In 1930, seventeen years before our independence the IRA freed a small portion of our land from the British...it was free for 4 days..the land is, CHITTAGONG. This is the story about the IRA...the women members of IRA...story of the first woman in the history of independence leading a guerrilla war against the British- Preethi Latha...story of the first woman who made bombs- Kalpana Dutt .. the list goes on.. factual...lucid and inspiring..you will shed tears, feel proud, be in awe as you read it through. Couldn't ask for a more befitting work in TODAY'S Nirbhaya times….A Must read. It provides great insight into the pre-independence era.....the spirit ..the purpose..the sacrifice..the state of Bengal..and the Nation…and the youth (every person involved in the Chittagong fight was under 20 yrs...)
