Our education system is what shapes our future individuals and makes our citizens empowered in every aspect. But that is one thing that desperately needs improvement. Rajesh Mummaneni, the founder of Saakshar, received exclamation for his social work. He became the first person from Telugu states to get selected for ‘Ashoka Youth Venture’. Ashoka provides a platform for the Social Entrepreneurs around the world. It connects the people working towards for a similar cause thereby multiplying the capacity of each social worker. It provides stipends, professional support, services and connections to a global network of over 3500 leading social entrepreneurs in more than 84 countries. This youth venture aims at changing the ideals in youth thereby transforming our culture.
Saakshar is completely run by students and has a name for its genuine work. Rajesh, who has been working towards redeeming our education system, started Saakshar that provides education to the under privileged. He was moved by the plight of government students and that is when he decided to do his bit. He also studied the state of mind of students who suffered from lack of self esteem and the sense of being excluded from the society.
He initially started this organization with an aim of training the students towards proper employment by polishing their communication, leadership skills, and stress management. They impart these qualities in children by teaching them along with their standard textbook syllabus. The team puts efforts in each and every small thing from painting the walls of the school to giving projects which create interactive environment among the children. After noticing his noble efforts, Rajesh has been selected as one of the teen social innovators as role models for youth. He is the only millennial change maker recognized as Andhra Pradesh’s 1st ‘Ashoka Youth Venture’. He aims to work for schools and other youth organizations and build communities to work for this cause.
Being recognized as the ‘Youth Venturer’, he feels that this provides him a chance to spread the good word and encourage the youth towards social work. He believes in building a change maker movement in the whole country to up lift our education. He believes in the strength of the individual work and encourages people of this regard.
