Times When Common Objects Were Used As Major Plot Twists In Telugu Cinema!

Idea by Ravi Teja

1. Khushi - Deepam Khushi is one memorable movie. The way these two characters from completely different circles of the world were brought together by destiny is just another example of excellent screenplay. So the scene where Pawan and Bhumika first meet each other in the temple. Just imagine what the story would have been if they hadn't spotted the little 'Deepam'? Coming together to protect the 'Deepam' symbolically conveyed that the both of them had similar characteristics. Instant chemistry.

2. Athadu - Goli Athadu is probably the longest running film on 'MaaTV'. Doesn't matter how many times you've seen this movie, you will surely end up watching it again...every time it comes on TV. In this movie, a couple of kids innocently place a 'Goli' (marble) inside a hunting gun. Later in the movie, the backfiring 'Goli' saves Nandu's life. Brilliant piece of screenplay and once again the day is saved by an innocent object intervening in the scene.

3. Chatrapathi - Chembu Chatrapathi's interval fight with Kaatraj is a totally epic scene. Sivaji revolts against their tyranny and engages in a brawl to the death with Kaatraj. What if, Kaatraj was able to overpower and kill Sivaji? What would have happened to the story then? So in that moment of seeming desperation when Sivaji was getting beaten to death, he gropes around and finds a sealed 'Chembu' (water container) buried in the scene. The same Chembu was thrown into the water by Sivaji's step brother who despises him. Sivaji delivers a powerful blow to Kaatraj and escapes this situation. Eventually he manages to overpower and finish off the ruffian. All thanks to the Chembu.

4. Siva - Cycle Chain The most epic scene ever in Telugu cinema, the cycle chain is something that has been etched into our memory forever. So in this scene, Siva is facing a group of goons and going up against them empty handed would have made sure he got his backside beaten. That is when he suddenly pulls out the chain from nowhere. This is the moment he realises that he is the one needs to stand up to these goons and make a point. The chain made him realize that he was the only who could do it. Also, I would like to stress on the fact this scene even changed the way how action scenes were written in Telugu cinema.

5. Baahubali: The Beginning - Mask Sivudu was a carefree tribal youth who lived his happy-go-lucky life. He did not have any care in life except that he wanted to climb up the waterfall mountain. Then he finds this mask, and suddenly he is possessed by a new obsession. Suddenly the waterfall did not seem like a big enough ambition. The greatest ambition in Sivudu's heart was to meet the beautiful woman who wore this mask. With that thought in mind he is finally able to scale the slippery slope of this waterfall. Nothing better than true inspiration.

6. Venkatadri Express - Idly The protagonist of this movie is shown to be on his last thread. One more silly mistake and he faces the terror of being thrown out of the house. This is when he decides that he will toe the line from now on. But then, getting down to eat a plate of Idly takes him on a roller-coaster ride for the rest of the night. Even the small things matter man.

7. Devudu Chesina Manushulu - Arati Thokka The movie may have been a major disaster, but it was nevertheless a great screenplay experiment. The main object for this movie was an 'Arati Thokka' (Banana Peel). We are introduced to a bunch characters by the narrator, who is Lord Vishnu himself. He is just trying to prove a point to his consort, Lady Lakshmi. So we get to see how the whole direction of their lives is turned around because of the Arati Thokka. What happens if you step on it? What happens if you don't?

8. Pellichoopulu - Door The lead characters, Prashanth and Chitra had completely different lives. Frankly, their lives would never intersect even if they kept walking past each other. It was all thanks to the Pellichoopulu that they even crossed paths. Imagine if the Door hadn't gotten locked! Chitra would have refused the match right away and Prashanth would have gone back home and lived his life in the same happy-go-lucky manner. Thanks to the jammed door, these two got a chance to interact properly and exchange stories. That sparked off the idea that they could work together. Advantages of a forced situation.
