To promote eco-friendly Ganesh Chaturthi, this couple from Mahabubabad took a different stand in spreading the awareness. Mohammad Subhani and Saleema have been doing this for the past 5 years. Subhani can be seen covered in clay holding a placard which says “Get home clay Ganesha and save the environment”. His wife is seen pushing the cart he’s sitting on. This is a unique way of showing people the importance of this noble cause. They go t every street in town to spread the message.
The reason behind this stated by Mr. Subhani is that he was rather depressed by the fact that the amount of pollution that is caused by the immersion every year. He also expressed his happiness on people coming forward and promising them that they’ll further use only clay idols at home.Though they belong to a different religion this couple, promoting a noble cause shows their liberal religious nature.
They were recently noticed and were also appreciated by IT and Textile Minister KTR for their good work, as he took up the promotion of clay idols throughout the city. We have seen our rivers and lakes get polluted every year after the Ganesh Nimarjanas. This has seen the light a few years ago but still, the word needs to spread far and wide. GHMC is also constructing exclusive immersion ponds to reduce the pollution in Hussain Sagar.
