Most farmers in our country have to live with a severe impediment. Their limited access to the markets have forced them to deal with opportunistic middlemen who exploit the farmers every chance they get. The Hasnabad farmer producer company hopes to bring about a change in this state of things and emancipate the farmers by providing them with fair working capital, agriculture technology and greater linkage across markets. This effort will likely bring about a change in the lives of women who currently work for as low as Rs 2000 per month.

As in most areas, the women farmers do a majority of the back-breaking work that goes into farming but get a very small proportion of the final price. ALC India seeks to correct that by forming farming producer companies where the women are given key leadership positions | Photo by Saurabh Chatterjee | As in most areas, the women farmers do a majority of the back-breaking work that goes into farming but get a very small proportion of the final price. Matti Manushulu, is a week long photo exhibition that will highlight the beautiful vistas of a serene rural life and the work women farmers do on the field. The photographers have tried to show us a glimpse of the minute joys and severe conditions that these women endure almost everyday.

Until ALC India got in touch with these farmers, they would spend a lot of money on middlemen and transporters to sell their produce or buy fertiliser.
