Laparoscopy: Laparoscopy is a medical procedure where a needle size incision is made instead of open surgery reducing scarring and other issues. Two needles sized incisions are made for this type of surgery, one for visibility and one for the procedure.

Why is it revolutionary?
Laparoscopy is a highly male-dominated field for surgeons. All the techniques used were suitable for a male surgeon. The immediate need was to innovate newer techniques, which were ergonomically suitable for women.

Also being a gynecologist, Manjula wanted to make a point that ObGyn is not all about deliveries and hysterectomies. She innovated procedures in laparoscopy that would pave way for easier surgeries for women surgeons, also making it safer for women patients.
