Our 3rd Chief Minister of united Andhra Pradesh - Kasu Brahmananda Reddy - is known to most of us know because there is a national park in Jubilee Hills named after him. This article hopes to bring to light many other hitherto unknown facts about the late Chief Minister.

Chirumamilla, Guntur District That was the birthplace of young Brahmananda Reddy. He completed his early education in and around the village. Madras Presidency College KBR studied law in this college. He was a skilled advocate back in the day. 23 February 1964 On this day, KBR took the reins from Neelam Sanjiva Reddy as the Chief Minister of united Andhra Pradesh. A Political Mastermind As Chief Minister, he was faced with the massive challenge of a broken Congress Party in the state. However, his political manoeuvring united the various factions of the party and consolidated his power. Legacy as CM KBR was well-recognized for his work to support business in the state. His entrepreneurship-boosting activities powered the state’s economic growth. The renowned Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC) was established under Kasu Brahmananda Reddy's helm. Calls for Resignation The 1969, a 9-month strong Telangana Movement was a huge impediment in Kasu Brahmananda Reddy’s quest for power. Many opposition leaders of that time called for his resignation due to poor handling of the protests and riots, that cost the lives of about 370 students, while over 70,000 people were arrested. This controversial time also saw brute force of lathi charged 3,266 times, and about 20,000 people were injured in the lathi charge, and 1840 people had received bullet injuries and fractures, tear gas was supposedly used 1870 times. He did resign in 1971 to give way to P. V. Narasimha Rao.

Reddy is credited with creating the Industrial infrastructure in and around Hyderabad. During his long regime of seven years (longest for any Congress CM in the state of united Andhra Pradesh), many major industries like BHEL, HMT, IDPL, Hindustan Cables and several defence establishments like MIDHANI, Bharath Dynamics were established. KBR lived a life for the Telugu people. He went from strength to strength in consolidating his power and giving it back to his constituents.
