Looks like Reliance network is all set to bring out a new digital revolution in our country. It aims to make "technology" feasible to everyone and thereby digitalising the whole nation. After sweeping the country’s network with one mantra- JIO, Reliance network is at it again - this time with affordable 'smart' phones. At the recently held Annual General Meeting, Mukesh Ambani made a sensational announcement of introducing Reliance Jio Phone - a 4G VoLTE feature phone. Wondering how much it is priced at? Absolutely free! Yes you’ve heard us right. The phone is absolutely free for all Jio users, though with a small catch!

Terming it as ‘India Ka Smart Phone’, Jio is reinventing the conventional smartphones and came up with this revolutionary idea which is completely made in India. The phone, being multilingual, is available to users in 22 Indian languages. Also, one of the cool features is that it comes with a voice command. One unique feature of the phone is definitely the 'distress button'. A long press on the number 5 will send an emergency message to the specific chosen contact, helping users in difficult times. It is said that they’re even trying to add cops and emergency services to this list. For making payments easier, the Jio phone can also be linked to digital payments as well.

Last September marked the beginning of Jio storm. Jio redefined technology service adoption and became the fastest growing company in the world. As it was announced, data consumption in India has been increased from 20 crore GB to 120 crore GB per month and has been on the rise ever since. Now, Jio customers alone are said to be consuming around 125 crore GB, making it the widest used network in India. Many analysts even believe that after the launch of Jio, India has become the first country in the consumption of data. India has already overtaken China and USA in data consumption. Today, Jio has more than 100 million paid customers.

The firm also promised an unlimited data plan for Jio Phone users at Rs 153 per month only, thereby targeting at taking over the entire telecom market. For those who can’t pay 153 a month there are two sachets available which are a package of 24 rupees for two days and 54 for a week. It can also be connected to the Jio cable connect as well. Remember we spoke of a 'catch' in the beginning here? The phone, which is said to be free of cost, has a small clause to it. In order to prevent from the misuse of the device and take advantage of the offer, users buying Jio Phone need to provide a security deposit of Rs 1500, which is refundable. A Jio phone user can thereby use the phone for 36 months and can get back Rs 1500 upon returning it.

The Jio Phone is majorly targeted at the feature phone users in India. The main motive behind this is making digital India available for everyone irrespective of their economical condition. This will transform the lives of the 50 crore feature phone users, who are left out of digital revolution. Let alone 4G LTE they are not even entitled to the facilities of a normal smart phone. This is going to be a breakthrough device and will unleash a digital life for every Indian. The Jio Phone launch date is in September, with bookings starting August. Adding to this, there are many more surprises as well. This is the just the beginning of an upcoming sensation - Jio Phone. Let’s wait and see what Mr.Ambani has in store for us!
