5 International Chess Champions That Our Telugu Land Has produced!
It has stopped being a surprise that our Telugu land produces some kickass talents. And apparently,it isn’t limited to just one field. We have taken over art, literature, music, movies, science, entrepreneurship and also sports. There’s one more field that has become home-ground for us Telugu folk. The stream of chess is indeed found International Masters and Indian Grandmasters from our land. Here’s a list of those who made it big as Chess Champions not just in the nation but also internationally: Pendyala Harikrishna: Currently rocking the second position as a Grandmaster in India, and 25th in the world, this Guntur guy is in the big leagues already. Guess in how many international championships he made it into the top three? 68! pendyala Koneru Humpy: Everyone must have heard this name at least once, right? Born in Gudivada, she held the record for the youngest woman to become grandmaster for 6 years straight. Currently she’s number three in the world amongst women players.

Dronavalli Harika: Born in Guntur, she won the world Under-14 and Under-16 championships, and then she earned her International Master title when she was just 17. S he earned her Grandmaster title in 2011 and is now a part of the big league in the country. dronavalliharika Musunuri Lalith Babu: A much recent claimant of the Grandmaster title, this Vijayawada guy, is the third of the three grandmasters that the city has produced. Struggling against the odds of funding, he still managed to keep up his passion without losing hope. lalith babu Pratyusha Bodda: The fourth Telugu speaking girl to be coveted the Women International Master title. Hailing from Andhra Pradesh she’s on the look-out for becoming the Grandmaster soon.
