Breweries... Breweries... and Breweries everywhere in Hyderabad. Hyderabad is going to witness a slew of Breweries just Weeks after one micro brewery opens at Road No. 36, Jubilee Hills, another is set to open on Sunday on the parallel Road No. 45 and another one is getting ready to open near Durgam Cheruvu. In the next few weeks the city is going to witness 6 new micro breweries which promise to be the paradise for youngsters who are hoping to guzzle beer like there’s no tomorrow.

A microbrewery or a craft brewery is a brewery that produces a small amount of beer and is generally characterized by its prominence on quality, flavor and brewing technique.

Telangana is one of the largest beer producing and consuming states in the country having more than six breweries in the state. As many as 6,500 Lakh cases of beer are sold every year, including 3 Crore cases in Hyderabad alone. In fact, beer contributes a whopping 30 per cent to the state revenue.

The government has prescribed a license fee of Rs 3 Lakh along with an additional security deposit of Rs 1 Lakh for setting up a microbrewery. It has imposed a condition that any drought beer produced in such a facility cannot be bottled or sold outside the premises and can be served to customers only in glasses or pitchers.

Beer older than 36 hours cannot be served or sold. They are also not allowed to produce and sell more than 1,000 liters of beer a day. The Government has given a prior-clearance to 20 license applicants, two have started and one more is in the process of starting operations. So boozers, be ready to take a holy dip in Hyderabad's delightful micro-breweries...!
