1. Kotilingala in Karimnagar district was the first capital of the Satavahana Kingdom (230 BCE–220 CE). Formerly known as Sabbinadu, inscriptions dating to the Kakatiya dynasty (1083–1323) by kings Prola II and Prataparudra found at Karimnagar and Srisailam provide evidence of the area's rich history.

2. The history of the Karimnagar district began in the Old Stone Age around 1,48,000 BC. Archaeological excavations in Pedda Bonkur, Dhulikatta and Kotilingala show that the area was once ruled by the Satavahanas, Mauryas and Asaf Jahis.

3. An interesting aspect of Hindu religious architecture in Karimnagar district is the existence of rock cut cave temples of Adivi Somananapalle in Manthani Mandal belonging to 7th or 8th century A.D. A row of 4 caves is scooped out of the sandstone rock on the right bank of river Maneru.

4. Elgandala Fort is located on the banks of the Manair River amidst palm groves at a distance of 10 km from Karimnagar on the Kamareddy Road. The fort is historically important because five important dynasties have ruled over it.

5. Vemulawada was a capital city of Vemulawada Chalukyas dynasty between A.D 750-973. The remnants of the temples and statues show that Chalukyas were great architects. The greatness of Vemulawada can be inferred from ten inscriptions from the various temples.

6. The major industries in the district are National Thermal Power Corporation at Ramagundam, Singareni Collieries Company at Godavarikhani, and Nizam Sugar factory at Muthyampet. Singareni Collieries are based in the Godavari valley coalfield, which is the only repository of coal in South India.

7. There is an airport at Basant nagar Kesoram cement factory at Ramagundam which is about 50 km from Karimnagar City. It was used when the government of India was operating Vayudoot airlines, a subsidiary of Air India and Indian Airlines. After the closure of Vayudoot, it has not been in regular use. It is only used for landing of any VVIP's flights or for emergency landings.

8. The literacy rate of Karimnagar Agglomeration is 84.93%, which is almost equal to the National Urban average of 85%. The literacy rate for males and females for Karimnagar stood at 91.06% and 78.69% respectively.

9. PV Narasimha Rao, our former Prime Minister was from Vangara village in Karimnagar district. His ascendancy to Prime Ministership was politically significant in that he was the first holder of this office from non-Hindi-speaking South India.

10. Paidi Jairaj was a renowned film actor, director and producer was born in Karimnagar. He acted in about 170 films mostly in Hindi and Urdu, and some Marathi and Gujarati films. He directed a few films like Mohar, Mala (1943), Pratima, Rajghar and Saagar (1951). He produced the film Saagar in 1951. He produced the film Saagar in 1951.

11. Cingireddy Narayana Reddy is an Indian poet and writer was born in Hanumajipet, Karimnagar. He won the Jnanpith Award in 1988 and is considered to be an authority on Telugu literature. He is known as Cinare.

12. The Ramagundam dam is located in Karimnagar. The approved capacity of Ramagundam Dam is 2600 MW. The sources of coal are South Godavari Coal Fields of Singareni Collieries and Korba Coal Fields of SECL.
