The State government has finally given the go ahead to open beer shacks on Vizag's beach shacks like they have in Goa, minus the casinos. The Hotel and Restaurants Association of Andhra Pradesh, HRAAP, has hailed this as a pro-active decision and said that this will boost tourism. Meanwhile, the excise department hasn't made any comments on this issue.
The tourism department has opened up shacks to serve beer on the Thatlakonda beach. Plans are also being made to develop many more 'safe beaches' at Yendada, Mangamaripeta and Sagarnagar. Rushikonda, Vizag's most picturesque beach is also getting a major makeover. Talks are also on with private developers to introduce exciting adventure activities likes windsurfing, para sailing and Snorkeling. If everything goes according to plan we may even say a cruise service from Bheemli to Kakinada.
Vizag's hoteliers are hailing this government initiative while also campaigning for the relaxation in the licensing fees and restrictions on Vizag's night life. Vizag has a bustling sector and with this pro-tourism move, there will be an influx of tourists from around the world. Businesses need some leeway to be able to cater to the public in this situation. Hoping that everything falls into place in the future, Vizag will soon become the biggest tourist destination on the Eastern coast. The city of Destiny for a reason.
