But, a Hyderabadi youth who isn't even a film celeb surprised everyone by dethroning the stars to top the list of Hyderabad’s Most Desirable Man crown. It was a pleasant surprise when model and former MTV Roadies and Splitsvilla 10 contestant Baseer Ali secured Hyderabad Times Most Desirable Man of 2017 title. Soon, the city started tripping over one question - Who is Baseer Ali ?
Baseer is the winner of MTV Splitsvilla 10 (2017) and the runner-up of MTV Roadies Rising (2017). The 22 year old is currently a fitness model by profession. He had done his schooling from IVY League Academy and graduated from St. Mary’s, Yousufguda. Few years ago, Baseer was just a small time Youtuber. The reason, Baseer says, he and his friends were on YouTube was because they were kicked by the response they got after they first did a skit with the Deccani language. That one video made them start a channel called Habibi Vines, which is currently discontinued.
A resident of AC Guards, Baseer told (TOI) that he is on Cloud 9 and can’t believe he defeated Tollywood biggies to win the crown. Baseer is followed by actor Vijay Deverakonda, who jumped 20 places up to stand at No.2. Vijay’s 2017 cult-hit Arjun Reddy catapulted to an overnight stardom which made him a rage among youth. Actors Prabhas, Mahesh Babu and Ram Charan are at third fourth and fifth spots. Rohit Khandelwal, last year’s Hyderabad Times Most Desirable title winner, took the eighth spot below Allu Arjun and Rana Daggubati.
Talking of style inspiration, Instagram has become one of the biggest platforms. Baseer is possibly the most stylish man out there. Well built, with right attitude and world class wardrobe, Baseer has come a long way. He is changing the game of street style fashion and his Instagram profile proves that.
Baseer, who is currently enjoying the success, had a dark past as well. During the auditions of MTV Roadies, he had stated that he has a single parent mother because his father left them when he was a 5-year-old kid. He even confessed that he used to have anger issues during his late teenage. Baseer, who would always find himself in some or the other issue every second day, changed his attitude after his mother compared his anger to that of his estranged father’s. It was at this time that Baseer put an end to every fight and moved on to stand where he is now. Interestingly, Baseer and his elder brother got their mother married in 2007.
You don’t need to come from a star family. You don’t need a filmy background. All you need to do is work hard, create your own identity, and most importantly - listen to your mother - who is your biggest support system!
