Anjana Reddy, A Telugu Entrepreneur, Built India's First Celebrity Commerce Company!

Today women are leading many companies from the front. Meet Anjana Reddy who is the founder of Universal Sportsbiz Pvt Ltd (USPL), which owns the brands Collectabillia, Imara and Wrogn, with the collaboration of Sachin Tendulkar, Shraddha Kapoor and Virat Kohli. It all started in 2011, Anjana completed her MS in United States. Rather than choosing a corporate job or entering the media business(Deccan Chronicle) which was her owned by her family as career, she chose to become an entrepreneur in her own right. During her final year in college, she founded a company called Collectabillia. USPL offers opportunities to fans to own memorabilia personally autographed by their icons, and assists celebrities with extending their brand connects beyond endorsements. This makes Anjana's company India’s first celebrity-commerce company.

The year 2012 changed the life of Anjana Reddy changed when Sachin Tendulkar invested in Collectabillia and the company raised $2.7M and Sachin acted as the face of this company.

In the year 2014, she took a huge risk by making Virat Kohli as the face of “Wrogn” when he was in bad form professionally. Eventually Virat's form got better and he became a much bigger brand in late 2014. With this push, the brand “Wrogn” was kick started in the market.

In the year 2015, with the collaboration with Shraddha Kapoor she started “Imara” women’s clothing line. Earlier this year in July, USPL had raised Rs 46 crore from its existing investor Accel Partners, which shot the valuation of the company to Rs 255 crore. Accel Partners had earlier invested Rs 17.25 crore in USPL in 2012. At present there are 75 stores for Imara and 70 stores for Wrogn. During the 2015 World Cup, it offered an exclusive range of mobile phone accessories under the ‘Lionel Messi’ range and celebrated the phenomenon called Sachin Tendulkar with customised, attractive mobile cases, belts and wallets. Nowadays managing and getting a single brand to succeed in the market is difficult enough. Here we have Anajana Reddy who has built three highly successful brands.
