Located 4kms from the Shamshabad Bus stand, Ammapalli Kodandarama Temple has a history that dates back several centuries. Said to have been built in the 13th century by the Vengi Kings, this temple has an idol representation of the Lord Rama holding an arrow in his hand. Lord Hanuman sits on the Dhwaja Stambha of the Temple.

The idol in the temple is believed to be at-least 1000 years old, supposedly installed way back in the 11th century. The current temple was built almost 2 centuries later around the idol. This makes the temple nearly 800 years older than the golconda fort. The temple architecture and layout however is oddly reminiscent of Rajasthani style of building.
