Here’s A Look At Andhra Pradesh Police Headquarters That Looks Like It Came Straight Out Of A Hollywood Film!
The building you’re going to see now is not that of a Multinational Tech company’s new office in some elite area. It’s a police headquarters that is built in the newly formed state of Andhra Pradesh. The Andhra Pradesh Police Headquarters, that was recently inaugurated, looks like it came straight out of a Hollywood film. Located on the Vijayawada-Guntur highway in Mangalagiri, the HQ has a host of modern security equipment and its design is on par with the world-class headquarters.
The Rs 40-crore predominantly glass structure came up in 5 acres of land of the APSP 6th Battalion. The AP State Police Housing Corporation Limited (APSPHCL) which took up the construction of the AP Police Headquarters, completed it in a record 10 months. The building complex has a ground floor and four floors. It houses the office of Director General of Police. The advanced features of the police headquarters include bullet proof glasses, CCTV cameras, high-end surveillance, biometric attendance, vast parking place and plentiful greenery. Surrounded by beautiful hills on its three sides, the 1.10 lakh sq ft building overlooks the National Highway 16 and is equipped with modern communication facilities and three conference halls. It is 15 km away from the state’s Secretariat.
Salient features:
Plinth area
1.1 lakh square feet
No. of floors – 5
Extent of police headquarters
2 acres
First floor – CID
Second floor – Andhra Pradesh Police Recruitment Board and Training Department
Third floor – Law and Order
Fourth floor – Technical services and offices of DIG rank officials
Fifth floor – DGP office and conference hall.
Parking place – One acre
After the state bifurcation in June 2014, some senior IPS officers moved to Vijayawada but due to insufficient accommodation some wings of the State police still remained in Hyderabad. Now that the new headquarters building has been completed, the entire AP police machinery will relocate fully to Amaravati, the state’s capital. Chief Minister Chandra Babu Naidu said he wanted the force to follow the dictum, “police should be invisible and policing should be visible”.
