This ‘Sankranthi’ it is not just going to be the festival of kites. In fact, it will be extra special because there’s a ‘World Sweet Festival’ going to happen in Hyderabad from January 13th to 16th at Parade Grounds, Secunderabad.
This festival will be featuring more than 1000 sweets from across 25 Indian States and 15 Foreign Countries. And all these sweets are going to be prepared locally by the members of various associations. And this entire event is organized under Telangana Government Supervision.
This festival is aiming to bring people of various cultures, languages, traditions together at one place. This sweet festival is being organized to showcase the cosmopolitan nature of Hyderabad in a sweet way,” tourism and culture secretary B Venkatesam said.
This fest also includes Indian people living in Foreign countries. They can also come and present their dishes. All the women from different parts of India and World will be representing and making the sweets.
He also added, “We are planning to organize the sweet festival with such families (who have made Hyderabad their home); like Indians live in America as Indians”
No hotels, no shopkeepers, no caterers, no commercial representation,” Venkatesam said, adding that around 1,000 varieties of sweets would be on display at the Parade Grounds in Secunderabad.
what’s special about the event:
The sweets that are represented in this festival will be categorized uniquely. Which means that for example if you want to try out ‘Payasam’ in particular. There will be a special counter where ‘Payasam’ is available exclusively from AP, Telangana, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu.
Which means that the visitors will have a perfect all-round experience of the sweet which he/she liked and would love to try out more of it. But in a differently cooked way.
Each sweet variety will look like a mini-India.
Most of the counters that will be present here would have live counters. Which means that sweets will be prepared right at the moment.
The event would be held along with kites festival which the state government organizes every year.
