Buddha Jagannadham, a former corporator in Vijayawada did exactly that when he was travelling near Raghavayya Park. Earlier this month he had captured a video of an APSRTC bus which was belching out thick smoke to the extent of creating a visual barrier for motorists.
Later his posted this video in Facebook which got around 33k views. It caught the attention of RTC officials who decided to act immediately on this and took the bus out of action. This is a classic example of how social media is being used for highlighting issues that are pertaining to the general public.
The RTC officials later clarified that there were no outdated buses being plied in the city. However, Ordinary category buses, which are comparatively old, sometimes emanate thick smoke due to overload, traffic situation and also the rough handling by drivers. Imagine if we all used the power of social media to throw some light on the problems we face everyday, what a world that would make.
