Telugu mountaineers have made our country proud again! This time, our Tri Colour flag flies high on Mount Elbrus, the highest peak of Europe. Located in Russia, it is one of the peaks in the world that is hard to summit. There is no stopping for the dynamic teams of two Telugu states in successfully summiting these tallest peaks.
The teams who participated in the trek are the students of Social Welfare Residential Institutions from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. This is not the first time that these guys made our states and the country proud. It is one of the seven summits that this team is going on. The AP team consisted of Satya Rao from Visakhapatnam and Raghunath Reddy from Guntur district.
And the Telangana team consisted of two members led by Malavath Poorna, who holds the record of being the youngest girl to climb Mount Everest. Satya Rao from AP team trekked Mount Everest in May this year. Raghunath Reddy previously worked as a trekking guide and recently concluded a Mount Everest expedition. Young girls Malavath Poorna, Sri Vidya and Varsha Rahul also trekked the peak with the team. Both the teams underwent training at Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh.

The trek began on July 24th. And they reached the summit of Mount Elbrus on Thursday at 7.30 AM (Moscow time) and displayed our 50 ft Indian Tricoloured flag. They also showed their gratitude towards our leaders by displaying the photographs of both the chief ministers N. Chandrababu Naidu and K. Chandrashekhar Reddy.

They acclaimed the difficulties they faced during the trip but expressed their happiness on summiting it. Mount Elbrus is a dormant volcano. The last time it exploded was 2000 years ago. All the way on its slopes we could see the debris of solidified lava. The teams will descend the summit and will reach to Vijayawada on August 1st.
