Feeling The Scorching Heat? It’s Because Of Rampant Deforestation In The Telugu States!


In October we are feeling the scorching heat. This is all because of deforestation. This is majorly due to the lack of proper tree cover. According to the reports of the Union ministry of environment, with respect to forests and climate change (MoEFCC) Telugu states have topped in the Chopping of trees with more than 55% in the total deforestation conducted in 15 states.

According to MoEFCC, 10,80,101 trees were illegally pulled down in 15 states and two Union Territories, in which which 3,95,489 were from the state of Andhra Pradesh. Around 2,04,164 trees were axed in the state of Telangana which is about of 55% of the total trees felled.

In the year 2015-16, Telangana, with 76,670 tress recorded the maximum number of tress felled in 2015-16, for constructing of buildings, houses, roads and etc.

The state of Andhra Pradesh witnessed a drop in the axing of trees from 1,63,649 in 2013-14 to 97,244 in 2015-16. In the same time period, Telangana witnessed a rise in the number of trees being pulled down. The numbers in the state rose from 66,554 in the 2013-14 period to 76,670 in the 2015-16 period. The next time you want to complain about the rising temperatures and insufficient rains, think of the number of trees being felled everyday. It is high time we take the necessary corrective action to protect our valuable forest cover.
