Here Are The Indian Start-Ups Which Grabbed The Attention Of Modi And Ivanka At GES 2017!

‘In this “City of Pearls” the greatest treasure is you!’, Ivanka charms attendees on the first day of Global Entrepreneurship Summit. As we all know, Hyderabad is hosting GES 2017 for the first time in South Asia. The guests and foreign delegates were totally impressed by the hospitality and of course Hyderabadi biryani as well. The summit was inaugurated by our Prime Minister Sri.Narendra Modi and Ms.Ivanka Trump, the first daughter of United States.

In her inaugural address Ivanka stated in her remarks that the conference’s location this year is ‘a symbol of the strengthened friendship between our two peoples, and the growing economic and security partnership between our two nations. As President Trump said earlier this year: India has a true friend in the White House.

However, prior to the inaugural, Narendra Modi and Ivanka Trump took time off to visit five shortlisted startups. While the delegation couldn’t visit all five startups, they were an important part of the day’s session. The startups were selected and chosen following guidelines of Niti Aayog and Startup India. These five startups are believed to have been chosen on the basis their innovations and the overarching help they would provide to the country. Here’s something you should know about those five start ups :

1.Ather Energy
Ather Energy is a start-up building India’s first Smart Electric Scooter, the S340. Built for a future that is inevitably electric and seamlessly connected. It is the brainchild of IIT graduates Tarun Mehta & Swapnil Jain and is among the few hardware start-ups in India. It was founded in 2013 and has received funding from Hero MotoCorp, Tiger Global and Flipkart founders Sachin & Binny Bansal. The Ather S340 is a connected vehicle powered by a lithium-ion battery pack. It features a digital touchscreen dashboard, a light-weight aluminium chassis, and can reach speeds of 75 km per hour. The smart dashboard in the vehicle will enable users to create personalised profiles, choose riding modes and set other ride preferences.

2.Ahhaa
Founded by Ashwin Srisailam, a former monk turned entrepreneur, and Diane Bacchus-Quddus was then a mobile app targeted at achieving inner growth and fulfilment. Ashwin later decided to slightly pivot Ahhaa from a mobile-app only platform to a virtual reality experience. Their goal now is to create “Ahhaa spaces” or VR-powered meditation centres in corporate and educational campuses. While the content has been created based on insights from Aswin’s journey as a monk, the music for the Ahhaa Space has been specially licensed by AR Rahman. Over time, the start up aims to create more content as it expands to other categories.

3.Hyperloop
The Hyperloop is a new way to move people or things anywhere in the world quickly, safely, efficiently, on-demand and with minimal impact to the environment. The system accelerates a passenger or cargo vehicle at airline speeds through a steel tube in near-vacuum using a linear electric motor. Founded in 2015 by a small group of students from BITS Pilani, Team Hyperloop India is a multi-disciplinary multi-university think-tank comprising over 60 motivated student volunteers in the fields of engineering and business. Their OrcaPod is India’s first and only entry to the SpaceX Hyperloop Pod Design Competition.

4.AmbuPod
The AmbuPod (patent pending) is a 3-in-1 fully equipped Mini-Ambulance (BLS/ALS), Mobile Clinic (that can run daily OPD and clinical services) and Telemedicine Centre that can provide any village with affordable, quality based, daily healthcare, along with 24/7 ambulance services. Developed by a Pune-based doctor Lavanian Dorairaj, the AmbuPod is a single-patient all-weather Basic Life Support (BLS) micro-ambulance that supports a makeshift clinic. It can be connected to any vehicle, from motorcycle, to auto-rickshaw to wheelbarrow for easy navigation along narrow paths or any difficult terrain.
