90’s Kids Rejoice! Our Favorite Social Media Platform Orkut Is Coming Back As “Hello”!
Remember back in days, when there was no other major social media platform. And everybody was a fan of Orkut. We all can confidently say that we were super active on Orkut. Those scrapes, Public messages, and the fun we used to had as kids. But all of a sudden, everything went blank and Orkut shut down its service everywhere.
After so many years, Orkut is all set and planning to make a comeback as ‘Hello’ in the next two months in India. ‘Orkut Buyukkokten’ founder of Orkut, has unveiled that he has new plans for making this social networking platform big again.
Last year Buyukkokten launched a beta version of Hello. And so far there have been nearly 50,000 installs of the app. And according to play store, the new hello app would be compatible with all the devices running on Android 4.4 and above.
Key Features of New ‘Hello’ App:
1. Almost very similar to FB
2. You can join groups and communities
3. All these communities you join would be public and anyone who share common interest can join
4. More than 100 interest personas that you can follow
5. Personality tests that will help you connect with users you are more likely to get along with
How It All Started?
A Turkish engineer, Mr. Orkut Buyukkokten had unveiled Orkut in 2004 as part of an independent project while working at Google.
A decade later, this Internet giant shut down the social networking service, which, at its peak, had gathered more than 300 million users worldwide. Facebook, which was also founded in 2004, is now the leading social network in the world with more than two billion monthly active users.
“I see Orkut.com as a start of a wonderful journey. Social networks have evolved over time…I see ‘Hello’ as a continuation of this journey,” said Mr. Buyukkokten.
Hoping that ‘Hello’ will be as great as Orkut was.
