To all folks who are desperate for some real rocking fest, head to IIT-Hyderabad this weekend. The college is all set to host the most happening campus event that Hyderabad witnessed in recent times.
The ninth edition of the three-day techno-cultural bonanza ‘Elan & Nvision’ will commence at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Hyderabad on Friday.
More than 180 events are lined up, including the much-loved music concert ‘Sunburn’, where entry is free for all. Singer Kailash Kher will be the star attraction. Popular Australian DJ duo ‘Rave Radio’ will also be performing at Sunburn.
The student-driven event is being organised entirely by the student community of IIT-H and aims to spread awareness about global warming, climate change and environmental degradation.
The annual ‘Hackathon’ will be part of the event as well, where tech experts from around the country will discuss urban development challenges. Apart from these, the event will feature a host of cross-genre cultural performances such as rock music and classical dance, literary events such as quizzes and treasure hunts, as well as techno shows such as robot competitions.
Among the Biggies:, the fest is coming up with ‘Elan-e-Jung’, a Metal band competition with prizes worth 30k and Zebronics Goodies . It’s also having Manthan, a fusion band competition with prizes worth 25k. The show is also hosting FBB Campus Princes - Beauty pageant competition besides Femina Miss India regional auditions.
On the Cultural side, IIT-H is conducting Western dance competition with three categories- solo, duet and group.
Also, gear up for Hip hop international India’s regional auditions, with prizes worth 55k. Also, Nrithyanjali, an Indian classical dance competition with prizes worth 15k.
All you DJ’s out there, there’s a DJ’ying competition that gives out 25K cash prize to the winner. Besides all this, there’s a street play competition, Arts exhibition as well. There’s also a LitFest: Seven writing contests, each with their own quirky rules and encompassing the literary culture from Shakespeare to memes. Completely online and ongoing. For poetry freaks, there’s spoken Word Poetry, where Abhinaya Murthy will join the event to give a new perspective on the beauty and practical tips on performing poetry.
On the tech side, there’s a Robo-wars event: Design and construct a remote controlled robot capable of fighting a one on one tournament. There’s also an IoT Challenge, Drift King, where contestants are expected to make to an IC engine powered machine, that can be controlled remotely using a wireless remote controller, which can race against machines of similar construct on an all-terrain track packed with a number of obstacles. Also, gear up for a Quadcopter Challenge, η-Hackathon.
