Hyderabad’s Rajeev Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) becomes the first airport in India to have an exclusive, express check in system that’s going to ensure smooth and swift security check for the common commuters at the terminals checking gate.
GMR along with the CISF has executed this simplified version of the express check-in instead of the regular hectic and time taking procedure. This is aimed to help the regularly air borne domestic passengers who travel frequently. The passenger after obtaining the printed boarding pass from a “Kiosk” can now directly access the “Express Security Check” lane without being held up at the regular check-in area and can directly head towards the allotted boarding area.
In the wake of the recent increase in the flow of passengers, the airport authorities have decided to ensure a more efficient and time-saving method. Currently, around 18000 domestic passengers travel on daily basis, which almost half the percentage of total commuters from this airport. And most of them carry only a hand baggage, unlike the regular passengers.
The Director General of CISF OP Singh, in the press release, said, “We are committed to providing security of a very high order and simultaneously focused on passenger comfort. This new feature is in sync with this commitment and we hope that every passenger flies happy, flies safely.” Also, SGK Kishore, CEO, GHIAL, said, “As part of our ‘Passenger is Prime’ programme, the facility envisions a substantial reduction in load at check-in counters and the regular security check areas during peak hours.” The Airport now connects as many as 16 foreign and 3 Indian carriers with 18 international destinations, while 10 domestic carriers connect Hyderabad with 33 domestic destinations in the country.
We sure do hope that the woes of regular passengers are reduced further more and the Hyderabad truly lives up to the brand of “Global City”
