The Hyderabad’s South Zone cop has bagged two bronze medals in the 35 years+ category at the World Police and Fire Games 2017. Along with keeping the roads of Hyderabad safe, he is making us proud by winning medals in sports. He has made both India and Telangana proud as he is the only medallist from Telangana to win a medal. Bose Kiran has been a national level tennis player in his younger days. He was India’s No. 2 at the sub-junior category. He also represented the all India varsities and played for the state at National level games.
The 35-year-old cop in his free time can be seen on the Tennis court at the Lal Bahadur Stadium. He said that this tournament was a unique experience as some of the best sportspersons from various police departments across the world were participating in it. In the singles category, he won against Hong Kong’s Sze Cho Tin and in the doubles; Barajas Hererro Miguel Aigel (a Spaniard) and he defeated an Aussie-US pair.
Kiran started playing Tennis when he was 12 and since then, there was no looking back. He has always participated in various tournaments and proved his mettle with his racquet skills. But tennis became more of a hobby after he joined the state police force in 2000. Furthermore, he continued participating in inter-district level tournaments.
Work-out has always been a part of his lifestyle even when he did not have any tournaments approaching. Since his job kept him busy during the evening, he practiced in the early mornings. He says that the appreciation he received from seniors at work was really heart warming. Now he wants to concentrate on the World Police and Fire Games for 2019. Let’s hope he wins more laurels and appreciation in the tournaments yet to come and make us even more proud.
