Andhra Pradesh Bags First Rank In Successful Implementation Of Energy Efficiency!

Energy efficiency programs by CM Chandra Babu Naidu have yielded successful results in AP. The World Bank has ranked Andhra Pradesh as the best state in the country in implementation of energy efficiency and conservation programs.

With an overall score of 42.01, AP has emerged on top followed by Rajasthan with 41.89, Karnataka 39.34 and Maharashtra 39.29 in the Energy Efficiency program. Kerala, Gujarat, NCT Delhi, Punjab, Odisha and Uttar Pradesh are the other states in the top ten ranking.

Andhra Pradesh is the first state in India to adopt more than 1.8 crore LED bulbs under the UJALA scheme which has helped the state government to save Rs 2.6 Crore. Earlier this year, Vijayawada became the first city to implement National Energy Efficient Fan Programs.

For Energy saving, the state government has launched a new initiative – AP Energy Star, making it mandatory to procure only five-star rated appliances like air conditioners, refrigerators, ceiling fans and water pump sets in future. Andhra Pradesh achieved an energy saving of 1,500 million units in two years through use of LED lighting.

The result-oriented approach of AP government in implementing energy efficiency programs is worth emulating by other states. The government also proposes to supply such appliances to consumers on instalment basis at lower prices.

Hope other states will take an inspiration from AP and save power and energy for future generations use.
