Andhra Pradesh Government Inaugurates The Revolutionary “Anna Canteen” Across The State!

Andhra Pradesh government has decided to open 100 Anna canteens across the state soon. The proposal for this canteen was even included in the recent election manifesto. The “Anna Canteens” concept is inspired from Tamil Nadu’s Amma canteen.
Earlier, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu formally inaugurated the Anna NTR Canteen at the interim Secretariat complex at Velagapudi, which is part of the new capital city of Amaravati.
The Anna NTR Canteens will provide breakfast, lunch and dinner to the poor people at heavily subsidized rates. The menu includes: Idli, Upma and Pongal, each for Rs 5 a plate. For lunch, the menu will consist of Sambar rice for Rs 7.50 per plate, pulihora and curd rice for Rs 6.50 per plate. The dinner menu will comprise of two chapatis along with vegetable curry for Rs 7.50 a plate. This project is being undertaken with the help of the Akshayapatra foundation.
The Anna Canteens will soon be operational from Vijayawada, Visakapatnam, Srikakulam, Nellimarla, Rajam, Kakinada, Guntur, Ongole, Kandukuru, Tirupati, Kurnool, Anantapur and Hindupur in the first phase. In this day and age of rising prices and demonetization, the Anna canteens will be a welcome relief to the impoverished in the country.
