Padma Awards, Our nation’s one of the highest civilian awards were given recently for the year 2022. A lot of Telugu talents were recognised this year by our government. A lot of them are very underrated talents, whose stories we all don’t know about.

So here’s a list and a brief write up about all the 2022 Padma Awardees from Telugu states:

1. Krishna Ella & Suchitra Ella from Telangana – Padma Bhushan (Trade and Industry)

Covaxin’s Chairman Krishna and Joint Managing Director Suchitra garu are awarded with Padma Bhushan for their tremendous contribution towards making the covid vaccine.

2. Garikapati Narasimha Rao from Andhra – Padma Shri (Literature/Education)

Sahasra Avadhani Garikapati garu is a name that needs no introduction to Telugollu. He delivers lectures based on Telugu literature and way of life.

3. Gosaveedu Shaik Hussain from Andhra – Padma Shri (Posthumous) (Literature/Education)

Very less people know about this legend.. He participated in Indian freedom movement from 1941 to 1947. When he was arrested by the Britishers, he used to sing in jail. He was the first person to perform Nadasvaram in all the temples of AP back then.

4. Ramachandraiah from Telangana – Padma Shri (Art)

Famously known as Manugur drum artist Ramachandraiah is a folk artist from Kothagudem. He has been performing this art for several decades now.

5. Sunkara Venkata Adinarayana Rao from Andhra – Padma Shri (Medicine)

An orthopaedic surgeon from Vizag famously known for his work for the poor and needy. The 82 year old has been awarded with several awards over his six decades of service as a doctor.

6. Dr Padmaja Reddy from Telangana – Padma Shri (Art)

A famous Kuchipudi dancer who is known for bringing the rich heritage and glory of Kakatiya dynasty alive on stage. Over the past 40 years, she has done over 3000 shows in 100 countries.

7. Darshanam Mogilaiah from Telangana – Padma Shri (Art)

Hailing from Dakkali tribe, Amrabad forest reserve. He is popularly known as 12 మెట్ల కిన్నెర వాయిద్యకారులు. Many people know Mogilaiah garu from the recent viral Bheemla Nayak title song.

They are making exceptional contribution towards betterment of the society especially in Art and Literature. And making entire Telugu states proud. A warm congratulations to all the Padma Award Winners.
