The Telangana government on 2 December, announced that it will set up an IT Park dedicated for persons with disabilities. When this will be completed, this IT Park will be the first one in the world to have such facility.
This is being planned near Shamshabad Airport with up to 10 acres in the public-private partnership mode. On the evening of World Disability Day, the government entered into an agreement with Vindhya E-Infomedia Private Limited to set up this IT park. It will be focusing on creating employment opportunity for persons with disabilities.
This campus will also have amenities like, training, residential facility and delivery centers that will cater to different domestic and international clients. Telangana IT department has also said in a statement that, the park will be creating jobs for 2000 people in the next five years.
Vindhya E-Infomedia, which is a pioneer in creating an inclusive workspace, employs persons with disabilities as its major workforce. It currently has over 1,600 employees working out of Hyderabad and Bengaluru. Majority of their workforce comprises of physically challenged, hearing impaired, and visually impaired persons.
Chairman and managing director of Vindhya E-Infomedia Pavithra YS said this campus will create an immense advantage for persons with disabilities, especially those with severe disabilities, who deserve an opportunity to lead a life with dignity and self-respect.
