Visakhapatnam is all set to host three-day AP Agri Tech summit 2017 from November 15th to 17th. The Government of Andhra Pradesh, along with Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, are organising this Agriculture summit which first of its kind and the biggest ever in the country. This summit is aimed at bringing cutting edge technologies in the agriculture and allied sectors to support the small and marginal farmers. The event completely focuses on primitive agriculture practices and digitalisation of agriculture.
About 1,500 delegates from national and international agencies are going to participate. Progressive farmers, NGOs, senior officers of agriculture and allied sectors from all 13 districts and delegates from renowned universities like the Iowa state university and the Netherlands will also take part in this mega event. The motive behind this is to help the farmers come closer to access the modern technology and teach them how to use them for agricultural practices.
Hon. Vice President of India, Sri. Venkaiah Naidu, Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Sri. Nara Chandrababu Naidu will take part in the inaugural function on November 15. It will be followed by panel discussions on agriculture and innovative agricultural practices. The event is also going to host a pitch competition to identify technology-based start up solutions that solve agricultural challenges faced by small and marginal farmers in Andhra Pradesh. 10 start ups have been shortlisted for the final round which will be pitching on second and third day. Final top three start-ups selected will be signing an MoU with Govt of AP and Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to roll out their solution in the state.
The co-chair and trustee of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Bill Gates will be present on November 17th for the Valedictory Function. Union Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh and Union Minister for Food Processing Industries Harsimran Kaur Badal would attend on the final day. The summit is being organised in association with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and the Dalberg Advisors.
